Let's start with Double Taxation because this is a bold-faced lie from the YES! fake news campaign. Do we pay Smyrna for a General Sessions Court? Yes. Do we pay Rutherford County for a General Sessions Court? Yes. Is that Double Taxation? Not at all. If we give up on the General Sessions Court in Smyrna, then the Smyrna expense goes down while the Rutherford County expense goes up. But it is not magic as Mayor Mary Beth Reed, Councilman H.G. Cole, and Councilman Steve Sullivan would have you believe. Think about it. We are still Rutherford County citizens and pay for both. And didn't they just raise our property taxes??? It is a shell game. Don't get played by these chowder heads.
